The city of brotherly love’s best-known landmark is LOVE itself. Robert Indiana debuted the design for his famous sculpture as a painting in 1964. After constructing the huge aluminum piece, Indiana lent it to the city of Philadelphia as part of the Bicentennial in 1976.
